Vietnam: TIME modelling for investment
In Vietnam the TIME model was used in collaboration with the NTP and KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation as part of the preparation of the Global Fund Concept Note. Guided by the NTP and KNCV, TIME Impact was used to project the potential epidemiological impact of an ambitious MDR programme. OneHealth TB was used to provide associated costs. Modelling and costing results from this collaboration were used to strengthen the narrative of the Global Fund Concept Note. Vietnam was awarded an additional 20M USD of funding for the MDR programme.
Asia Regional Workshops
In 2016, we held two TIME training workshops for Asian regional TB policymakers from Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam. The inital workshop (held in Hanoi, Vietnam, January 2016) was the first step of a longer training pathway to increase the capacity within countries to make informed choices about the use of TIME in their policy cycles. As part of this pathway participants are offered support by the TIME team after the workshop, as they develop their skills by addressing a specific policy relevant question, and involve other actors in the local TB response. A follow up workshop (held in Jakarta, Indonesia, September 2016) focused on introducing other TIME functionalities (e.g. costing and OneHealth), and discussing the progress made by country teams on their country specific work.
